Good thing is, Google has made the bootloader unlocking process as simple as possible. You just require to type a one line command which takes less than a minute to unlock the bootloader.

Pre Requisites:

1. Backup your device data. You can follow our ultimate backup guide.

2.  Make sure your device have at least 60% battery power. You can install an app like Battery Percentage on your Android device to check it easily.

Nexus 5 Bootloader Unlock Using Script

  1. Download Nexus 5 Bootloader Unlocking Files.zip and extract it on your computer.
  2. Connect your Nexus 5 to computer with a USB cable.
  3. Double click on 1-click-nexus-5-bootloader-unlock.bat located inside extracted Nexus 5 Bootloader Unlocking Files.zip. If the script take longer than 2 min to execute then you might have driver issue.
  4. Once you double click, within few seconds a screen will show up on your Nexus 5 asking you to accept the Bootloader unlocking request. Accept it by selecting Yes using the Volume button and then press the Power button to confirm.
  5. That’s it! You just unlocked Nexus 5 bootloader.

Manually Unlock Nexus 5 Bootloader

  1. You still need that unlock file that we mentioned in previous steps. So, download it.
  2. Now, boot your Nexus 5 into bootloader mode. To do it, turn of your Nexus 5 first. Then Press and hold Volume Down and Power button together until you see Google’s logo, then release the Power button, while still holding Volume Down. You’ll enter Bootloader mode.
  3. Next, open the extracted folder [Nexus 5 Bootloader Unlocking Files.zip] and press Shift key + Right click on any empty space inside the folder, and select Open command window here from the context menu.
  4. Connect your Nexus 5 to computer with a USB cable.
  5. Now type fastboot devices in the command prompt to make sure your device is recognized. If the fastboot command don’t show any device then you must re-install Nexus 5 drivers.
  6. If your device is listed then type following command:
    1. fastboot oem unlock
  7. Accept the Bootloader unlocking request. Accept it by selecting Yes using the Volume button and then press the Power button to confirm.

That’s it! You just learned two ways to unlock Nexus 5 bootloader easily.
